40-odd ways of looking at snow 1

tomorrow i begin documenting the musical abuse of some 42 talented friends.i was very fortunate to do a month-long artist residency in Hameenkyrö, Finland, through Arteles. among the projects i worked on there was one i'm now calling '40-odd ways of looking at snow.' the project was to write at least one piece less than 2 minutes long per day for a musician friend. the first of these had to be done immediately when i woke up, and sent as soon as it was finished, so as not to  overthink or overedit the piece. it started as a side project to other works, but became the main focus--i had to find ways to work in states of mind other than 'inspired' and still come out with music i like.tomorrow is day 1 of a massive mini-music meeting at the recording studio my dad built and runs. i'm extremely excited and very grateful for the friendship and talent these kind people are lending me. i also bought $80 worth of nice food and beer, and had the piano tuned. i'm pumped, because music is the best.stay tuned for updates, and maybe some videos. i'll get this vimeo thing licked yet.
