pickled ginger 11

it has been 23 days since the last pickled ginger post. you might think this is because i've been moving and therefore too busy (read: lazy) to take the five minutes to transcribe one of these pieces from my notebook onto nice paper and then scan it so it can be put on the interwebs. incorrect.if not that, you might think i've been much to0 busy with P!G TH!NG and the long beach soundwalk and writing/preparing for the next chord four tour (new posts on all of these are forthcoming). this is also wrong.in fact, the timing was not determined by any nonsense i made up, but by much older nonsense:the date is 7/28/11. we'll drop this 11 right away, it has nothing to do with anything. the date is 7/28.the seventh month has four letters in its name.7x4 is 28. convenient, but irrelevant.7+4 is 11.the alpha-numeric values of that name are: 10, 21, 12, and 25. 10 and 12 being so close to the 11 we eliminated earlier, will also go.our numbers are 4, 7, 21, 25, and 28. their sum is 85.8+5=13, the number of lunar months in one year.the lunar months are colloquially named (in the united states) after the biological happenings around the full moon--think blue corn moon, harvest moon, etc.the lunar month we're in currently has three names, or so i'm told: full buck moon, full hay moon, and full thunder moon. you can clearly see the number 11 hidden in these names. believe me, you don't have to take my word for it (thanks bill nye and levar burton).  3x11 is 33.85-33 is 52. 52 flipped is 25, from our list earlier.52-25 is 27, which, flipped, is 72.85-72 is 13, a not altogether unlikely solution.july was originally the fifth month, called 'quintilis,' until julius caesar formed the roman calendar, and renamed the moth after himself.7-5 is 2, and 13-2 is 11.thank you for playing along.here is the latest installment in the pickled ginger series. please take it and use it however you like. i'd be very grateful. i hope you like it! if you'd like to see more of them, please click the pickled ginger category to your right.
