anthropic ensemble, sogo takeover gigs and records
hiya. so, my on again off again roommate maxwell gualtieri (guitar) has formed a quartet with andrew conrad (clarinet, also of chord four) and emilio terranova (bass). we play the original music of max, and a couple of mine, the latter written initially for a bassless band, so it's been fun seeing how the tunes functions in a broader soundworld.this band is playing tonight at the santa barbara new music series (at the muddy waters cafe in santa barbara) opposite the eclectic string player, jim connolly. we go on at 8:30. this will be my fifth appearance at the series, and i'm very grateful for that--it's been steadily gaining appeal in the area, and it's run by a wonderful guy and sax player called colter frazier. other appearances were my solo amplified cymbal project, chord four, the now defunct papabear, and one other i can't recall. oops.lastly, for this band, we have a residency of sorts, every 2nd and 4th sunday at la's endearingly crappy bar 107, on 4th between spring and los angeles sts in downtown. no cover, cool bartender, and you can get a tall boy of schlitz. who knew?in other news, the afrobeat band 'sogo takeover' has finally finished our record, which you can stream by clicking the picture below. this band is playing tomorrow night at rusty's surf ranch on the santa monica pier--we go on at midnight, the cover is $6 or $10.thanks for visiting, i hope you're well. ! !! !!!
