HAIKULLAGES

in fall of ’14

i was gifted two haiku

by my friend Emma

in my new city

alone in my apartment

i set them as songs

singing and playing

each instrument one by one

sending back music

i liked this project

and Emma had more haiku

so we continued

finding the music

both unhurried and unjudged

within the poems

these little secrets

peculiar and exciting

are out on thursday

these were written in isolation as a long-distance collaboration, teaching myself news skills as i went. what better project to revisit in 2020?
